Yesterday was our October Coalition Meeting and we had a fantastic time! With 22 in attendance we
congratulated Colin Bernskoetter on his Student of the Month award. Colin is a senior at Calvary Lutheran.
We also heard from Superintendent Larry Linthicum about the ways that the Jefferson City Public School District is teaching students to be accountable for their own actions. He had some great things to share!
Andrea Barnes-Peppard gave a presentation about the new Opioid Overdose Kit that the Missouri Board of Pharmacy and the Missouri Pharmacy Association has put together. We were disappointed that Missouri remains the only state in the nation without a Pharmacy Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) which would allow doctors and pharmacists to make sure that patients aren't receiving multiple prescriptions for the same drug. This would dramatically decrease the risk of overdose from these otherwise helpful drugs. To find out more about PDMPs and how they work, you can click here.
The rest of the meeting was business as usual and we all enjoyed getting to catch up with fellow drug abuse prevention advocates.
Our next meeting is at the Coca-Cola Community Room on November 15th from 11:30 - 12:30.
